While in Paris: Cinematic bucket list

1. TAKE A DEEP BREATH AT TROCADERO SQUARE!

 I haven’t been to Paris too many times, but I always start it the same way – while carrying my suitcase, straight from the airport I catch the subway and rush directly to the Place du Trocadero, where you can admire an absolute spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. If you’ve been here before, it a chance you’ve already seen it – here the final scene of funny comedy “French Women”took place. Regardless of the time of day, the view is one of a kind. I particularly like it during winter, not so many tourists make this city possible to really enjoy.

2. SEARCH FOR THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME

Walking path along the Seine River at the entrance to the Latin Quarter with the view of the Notre Dame Cathedral is a ‘must walk’ even in winter! I had great luck because throughout my trip there was nothing but the sun. I am not particularly a fan of religious tourism, but the interior of the cathedral just have to be seen. In my opinion, the most impressive, however, inconspicuous from the outside, is the oldest Parisian church of Saint-Germain-des-Pres where the heart of the Polish king, John II Casimir Vasa is buried.

3. CONSPIRE OR GOSSIP LIKE IN CHARADE OR GOSSIP GIRL

A friendly meeting, gossiping or maybe a secret conspiracy? Whatever the purpose, cafes in Paris will never run out. I chose Cafe Louis Philippe, the place where the movie series characters Blair and Serena spent their Parisian time.

4. PHILOSOPHISE WITH ALL THE GUYS LIKE JO FROM FUNNY FACE

Well, nowadays it’s rather difficult to spot any bohemians in the streets of Montmartre, but you can always be pleasantly lost in your own thoughts, and later on daydream on Place du Tertre, a heart of this neighborhood. Surprisingly, in the evenings, here is really quiet, let’s say even devoid of life, as the highest part of Montmartre is mostly occupied by tourists in the daytime.

5. STOP BY TO AMELIA’S DEUX MOULLINS CAFE

Since we are already in Montmartre, you should stop by to the famous Deux Moullins, where the movie Amelia was set. The Cafe looks really humble – nothing that would give great aesthetic pleasure. However I like its unforced atmosphere which reminds me of “my cafe” back in Milan, although wasn’t very beautiful, it was a nice, simple place to spend time. If you decide to come here, you must go to the toilet! As strange as it sounds, just do it. You will be surprised with a cabinet filled with gadgets from the movie including a famous traveling garden gnome!

6. WAIT FOR LISA OR MAX IN THEIR FAVORITE MEETING SPOT

Both “L’apappartament” and its American remake “Wicker Park” are the films which absolutely conquered my heart and are the remedy for poor, romantic mush that Hollywood feeds us. Luckily, the first one was set in Paris, and as many couples, Lisa and Max have “their place” at small Furstenberg Square. If I lived in Paris, I would also chose that place for my randez-vous. 

7. HEAR ”CARRIE YOU’RE THE ONE” WHILE RECREATING FAMOUS FINAL SCENE FROM “SEX AND THE CITY”

There are lots of bridges in Paris, but this one is my very favorite, obviously, I am talking about Pont des  Arts, a.k.a. Love Bridge. It isn’t the biggest, the most beautiful or impressive Parisian bridge, but definitely has its charm. No wonder the producers decided that it would be a perfect spot for the final scene for Carrie and Mr.Big. I simply love that place.
